NEW CELL PHONES

Sony Ericsson K618i / K618

 Sony Ericsson K618i Available now
13th August 2006

The long days of summer are pretty quiet in the mobile industry, with only a few product announcements. Normally, a new product from Sony Ericsson would be quite interesting.. but in the case of the K618i, it's really not that interesting at all.

Sony Ericsson K618i Don't get us wrong - this is a damned fine handset - it's just that it's yet another variant of the K610i in addition to the V630 and K610im. The difference between these handsets is cosmetic - they're just available for different carriers.

Just in case you're not familiar with the specification of the K618i already - it's a very lightweight 3G phone weighing just 89 grams with a 2 megapixel camera, expandable memory (using Memory Stick Micro cards) with a 256Mb card included, it has Bluetooth and of course an MP3 player.

The K618i's display is only a 176x220 pixel unit, but this is an acceptable trade-off for the handset's light weight and it will be good enough for most people. Overall, the K618i shows typically stylish Sony Ericsson design - it's a smart looking device that is pretty unmistakable in its origins.

The Sony Ericsson K618i should be available during Q3 2006 in white and black variants on networks other than Vodafone (who have the V630i) and Hutchison 3 (who have the K610i) - so most the K618i is most likely to be seen on T-Mobile, Orange and possibly O2.
